I'm reading the Marilyn book right now by J. Randy Tarraborrelli. I'm not usually into celeb biographies but this one is fascinating! I had no idea what personal turmoil she endured in her life - with her mother's madness, Joe DiMaggio's brutality, the studio system's subjugation - Amazing! I highly recommend the book !

I loved the one he wrote on Michael Jackson. I read Diana Ross' (boring); Maybe I'll read Marilyn Monroe's ( she was way before my time).

The Kathy Griffin book is pretty terrific -- funny, great family stories, a couple shockers. If you like her humor (and I looove it), this is a real pleasure. One quibble: those emails between her and Woz. Erm, not that interesting.

The Steve Martin book (see the Griffin book for her take on him, and stand clear) is also a pleasure, and a fun time-trip through 1970s L.A. He lets a few people have it, too (isn't that part of what we're paying admission for?)

The O'Reilly book? I can't stand his show (it's not his politics --I don't care for any arrogant, grouchy ego-maniac of whatever stripe who fancies himself all cutesy and on the side of righteousness). So I'll pass. But what on earth could have happened to him that would be of interest to anyone other than his fans? Did he serve in a war? Have some kind of bad reaction to pancake make-up? Have run-ins with other blow-hards? I guess I'll never know.

The Spellings? Don't think I can bring myself to look there either.
